Frequently Asked Questions
What can I major in?
The College of Arts and Sciences has many different options to choose from. Please review our list before you attend USF Orientation so we can properly assist you when you select your classes.
Can I major in pre-med?
No. Pre-med is not a major at USF. Students can choose any major and also take the required courses for medical school. If you want to attend medical school following your USF graduation, then you need to talk with your academic adviser about your goals so they can help you select the necessary courses.
What is a permit and how do I know if I need one?
A permit is an electronic approval that indicates to OASIS that a student may register for a course. When the computer cannot recognize a pre-requisite (such as a course from an out-of-state or two-year institution) on your record, you cannot register for those courses. The permit will allow you to register for those courses.
