Jack Darkes, Ph.D. Dr. Jack Darkes is an associate scholar and assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Florida. He also serves as the Associate Director for the Alcohol & Substance Use Research Institute. He received his Ph.D. in December, 1994, from The University of South Florida. He is a licensed Psychologist with the state of Florida and has served as both an outpatient psychotherapist and a psychotherapy supervisor to clinical graduate students for the Psychological Services Center at the USF. He has also volunteered time as a faculty advisor for a student helpline. Dr. Darkes is a member of the American Psychological Association and Division 50 of the American Psychological Association (Division of Addictions), from which he received an Award for Excellence in Research in 1995. He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. From 1989 through 1991, he was a member of the advisory Council for the USF Campus Alcohol and Drug Resource Center. He has served as a member of the Editorial Board for the Psychology of Addictive Behaviors and also serves as a reviewer for a number of journals. Dr. Darkes's major research interests include:
