Dr. Butchart joined the faculty in 2007. Prior to coming to USF he was Assistant Professor in the Cultural Studies Program at Trent University, Canada, 2006-2007. He practices communication study as humanistic inquiry. His teaching and research include work in modern and post-structural theories of symbolization and evidence, the history of ideas in communication, and cultural criticism. His current projects include a monograph on psychoanalysis and communication, and an edited anthology of recent critical theory.
