Dr. Chvasta joined the Communication faculty in 2001. Her current projects investigate women's relationship to work, regret in performance, and online journaling. She has served as co-editor of the Performance in Review section of Text and Performance Quarterly, is past chair of the Performance Studies Division of the Southern States Communication Association, and serves on the editorial board of Women's Studies in Communication. She is co-editor and founder of the online, multimedia journal Liminalities: A Journal of Performance Studies.

At the 2006 Southern States Communication Association convention, Dr. Chvasta was given the SSCA Outstanding Teacher Award.
