She has been with the Communication Department since 2000, joining us from Manchester, England where she spent six years as an undergraduate course manager and instructor. Leslie Tod is the departmental advisor in communication. Her office is in CIS3023. Her phone number is 974-6845 and her email is tod@cas.usf.edu. You should see your advisor when you first declare communication as you major for an academic plan, then, as you need, to update the academic plan. You do not need to see your advisor to register for classes. Click here to schedule an appointment. Do I need 2 semesters of a foreign language even though I took it in high school? YES. We do accept any foreign language, as well as American Sign Language. Why am I still listed as psp (pre-communication)? If you have declared communication as your major in Arts & Sciences (BEH201), but not met any one of the pre-requisites (30 hours, 2.5+gpa, SPC2600), your are considered pre-communication. Once you have met all the pre-requisites, you will need to go to BEH201 and complete a change of major form or do it online. Do I have to do an internship? No, but we offer SPC4942 Communication Internship Seminar, usually in the spring. Dr. Janna Jones does a call for applications towards the end of the fall semester for students interested in doing community oriented internships in the spring. Other options for internships are offered through the university and the College of Arts & Sciences, and can be used towards electives outside the major. Can I take COM3110? NO. This course is for non-majors only. Will my communication courses from other institutions count towards my degree? Possibly. You need to provide the advisor with a course description from the institution. If you plan on taking a communication course at another institution either as cross-enrollment (taken while also enrolled at USF) or as a transient student, you should check with your departmental advisor. The college advisor in BEH201 will approve any courses taken as general education. Forms are available in and submitted to BEH201 or online. Where do I find out about ARC petitionsregarding late adds/drops, late fee waivers, withdrawing from a semester, deleting a course my record, and academic dismissal? All petitions must be submitted to BEH201, College of Arts & Sciences. To get more information you can go to the website. How can I access my SASS report? When and where should I apply for graduation? Apply in the first four weeks of the term in which you will graduate. Applications are available and must be submitted to BEH201.
