Welcome to the Department of Geography at the University of South Florida. Our Department was founded in the 1960’s. Since that time, the Department and our university have grown tremendously.  The university is home to over 40,000 students and we are now one of the largest universities in the United States.  We are also ranked as one of the nation’s top metropolitan research universities.  We have 340 undergraduate majors and 64 master’s students in our department.  Also, our Ph.D. program is home to fourteen students.

Our Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Geography (BA and MA) and in Environmental Science and Policy (BS and MS), along with the Ph.D.  In addition, we are home to USF’s Botanical Gardens and to the university’s Community Initiative Program.  We are working hard toward a goal of offering a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning in the near future.

We have amazing faculty!  We have 21 faculty members in residence who teach a wide variety of courses. Our research professors have national and international reputations in their field.  Please spend some time checking out the links on this website to learn more about our programs, our faculty, and our Department.
