Research Experience

 

1994-2001       Participant in 16 oceanographic research cruises, two as co-chief scientist.  Conducted research in Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean sites, involving deployment, collection and analyses of seismic reflection profiling; chirp and side-scan sonar; multi-beam bathymetry; current meter; and sedimentary, video and photographic data.  Assisted in coastal marsh water/soil field research and as a departmental SCUBA diver for chemical and physical oceanography research groups.

 

1999-2000       Research assistant, Tampa Street Sweeping Protocol Project.  Coordinated with City of Tampa personnel the collection of street sweeping debris at Davis Islands (Tampa) study site; processed in laboratory for analysis.  Also part of team that collected storm water runoff during rainfall events for processing and analysis.

 

 


1991-1992       Master's thesis research:  measurement and analysis of the magnitude and spatial distribution of anthropogenic lead alkyl contamination in soil samples collected adjacent to an expressway in Tampa, Florida.

 

1990-1991       Data collection, analysis and creation of a model on the development of state government centered geographic information systems.

 

1990                Collection and analysis of surface water quality samples in the Sawgrass Lake wetland in Pinellas County, Florida.
