RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research interests include rural economies, environmental movements, and gender issues. My specific focus is rural development and agrarian politics in India, and my dissertation compared two village-level dairy cooperatives. Its aim was to provide a deeper understanding of the success of India's dairy development program.

I also work with the Narmada Bachao Andolan (Movement to Save the Narmada River), an anti-dam movement in India, which has questioned the displacement caused by dams and the increasing corporatization of rural resources.
