RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • Vulnerability to hazards
  • Environmental justice
  • Environmental health
  • Information technology and society
  • Racial/ethnic disparities

My scholarship in geography focuses on the interactions between technology, society, and the environment, with an emphasis on racial/ethnic and economic inequalities. It revolves around two major themes: (a) differential exposure and vulnerability to environmental hazards, and (b) disparities in the use of information and communication technologies. My research activities are primarily concerned with addressing contemporary issues that are socially relevant, developing interesting questions informed by theory, and investigating them from an empirical perspective. I use geographic information systems (GIS) technology and/or statistics as tools in my research.
