General Description
This course will give students a basic understanding of the concepts and techniques for customization of Geographical Information Systems. Students will become familiar with a number of fundamental concepts of object-oriented programming (OOP). The concepts will be provided by lectures and hands-on tutorials. Students will practice the acquired knowledge through a number of assignments and the development of a complete application program as a final project. The course will use Visual Basic for Application (VBA) to develop custom GIS applications using ArcGIS. A solid working knowledge of ArcGIS 8 is required. Previous programming experience is not required.
