College & Program Approval Process

The State Course Numbering System (SCNS) requires that all proposals be submitted electronically to Tallahassee. The USF Undergraduate and Graduate web-site addresses for on-line submission are listed below. Please note that even though the proposals are submitted electronically, the requirements of the college Undergraduate and Graduate Committees remain the same, i.e., you will need to forward paper copies for the committee review. After submitting your proposal(s) go the "view proposals"; print and submit copies to Lisa Mirabal BEH 201 who coordinates the college review processes.

Graduate New Course Proposals

  1. Complete the Online Proposal:  New Graduate Course Form http://www.grad.usf.edu/programs/grad_course_submit.php
  2. Complete the paper signature form:  Graduate Curriculum Approval Form – New Course http://www.grad.usf.edu/curriculum-course_Tampa.php
  3. If applicable, Catalog copy showing revisions as a result of this course approval if the course is required.  To get a copy of the Catalog is Word, email cdh@usf.edu noting which Program/Concentration is needed.
  4. Once approved at the Departmental level, submit proposal packet to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Course Change/Terminate Proposals

  1. Complete the Online Proposal:  Change or Terminate a Graduate Course Form  http://www.grad.usf.edu/programs/grad_course_change.php
  2. Complete the paper signature form:  Graduate Curriculum Approval Form – Change/Terminate   http://www.grad.usf.edu/curriculum-course _Tampa.php
  3. If applicable, Catalog copy showing revisions as a result of this course change.  To get a copy of the Catalog in Word, email cdh@usf.edu noting which Program/Concentration is needed.
  4. Once approved at the Departmental level, submit proposal packet to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Program Changes (new/changed concentrations)
To make changes to an existing Degree Program (Major) or to add a Concentration or make changes to an existing concentration within an existing Degree Program, do the following:

  1. Complete the Online Proposal:  Changes to Program Form http://www.grad.usf.edu/curriculum-program.php
  2. Catalog copy showing the proposed revisions.
  3. Once approved at the Departmental level, submit proposal packet to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Graduate Certificates New Graduate Certificate

  1. Complete the Graduate Certificate Proposal Form http://www.grad.usf.edu/curriculum-certificates.php
  2. Submit electronic draft to Graduate Certificate Office for initial review
  3. Once draft has been reviewed by Graduate Certificate Office, submit the proposal packet with departmental level approval to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Change Graduate Certificate

  1. Complete the Graduate Certificate Change Form http://www.grad.usf.edu/curriculum-certificates.php
  2. Submit electronic draft to Graduate Certificate Office for initial review
  3. Once draft has been reviewed by Graduate Certificate Office, submit the proposal packet with departmental level approval to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Undergraduate New Course Proposals

  1. Complete the Online Proposal:  http://www.ugs.usf.edu/ugc/Proposals/new.cfm
  2. Submit course syllabus/i
  3. Submit CAS Undergraduate Approval Form with departmental level approval to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Course Change Proposals (College Office will determine substantive verses non-substantive change)

  1. Complete the Online Proposal:  http://www.ugs.usf.edu/ugc/Proposals/sub.cfm
  2. Submit course syllabus
  3. Submit CAS Undergraduate Approval Form with departmental level approval to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

Changes to Major, Minor, Certificate, Track, or Concentration

    • Complete the Online Proposal:  http://www.ugs.usf.edu/ugc/Proposals/min.cfm
    • Submit the CAS Undergraduate Approval Form with departmental level approval to Lisa Mirabal (who coordinates the School and College review process)

     

    Signature/approval: to ensure the integrity of the process, the college requires signoff by all parties involved with the submission and approval of all the above transactions.

    ALL UNDERGRADUATE COURSES (NEW, SUBSTANTIVE AND NON-SUBSTANTIVE) ONCE APPROVED BY THE COLLEGE AND SUBMITTED FOR UNDERGRADUATE COUNCIL REVIEW WILL UNDERGO A THIRTY-DAY HOLD FOR REVIEW AND COMMENT BY ALL USF CAMPUSES.
