Pre-Health Advisors

  • There are multiple pre-health advisors at the University of South Florida. What advisor you see for information on a pre-health career depends on your area of interest, as well as the major you are currently pursuing:
    • There are multiple career areas in pre-health here at USF, as indicated by the USF Health Professional Programs section of this website. If you are interested in a specific area, please go to the Career section to connect to their website for more information about advising in those areas.
    • If you are interested in general pre-health advising based on your major, there are advisors to assist you. If you have a science major, such as Biology or Chemistry, your major advisors can assist you with pre-health advising. Health Science major advisors can also assist you with some areas of pre-health careers as well. For majors outside of the sciences, you can see the USF Tampa pre-health advisors: Dr. Melvin James and Ms. Emily Potts. Contact information for all of these advisors can be found on their website.

How do I make an appointment with an advisor?

  • To make an appointment with an advisor, please use the online advising scheduler system, Escheduler. Escheduler is available for USF students (Escheduler) as well as Non-USF students (Escheduler: non-USF). On Escheduler if you are a current student, enter in your U# and then select the major area in which you wish to get advising. If you are a non-USF student, enter in your email address and then select the major area in which you wish to get advising. You can make an appointment up to two weeks in advance. Please arrive on-time to your appointment, or you might be asked to reschedule and make another appointment.
  • If you need to cancel your appointment, you can also do this through Escheduler. Log on to Escheduler, then find your appointment time and select cancel. If you fail to show up to your appointment and do not cancel, you may be blocked and prevented from scheduling another advising appointment until you email your advisor with your name, U#, and the reason why you missed your appointment. Once the email is received your block will be removed and you can make another appointment.
