Transfer Students
Welcome to the University of South Florida! We understand that transferring can be an exciting and stressful time. A way to make your transition as smooth as possible is by having all
of your courses evaluated before you begin your time here at USF.
If you attended an out-of-state (public or private) college or a private college (in-state or out-of-state), you will need to have your coursework evaluated. Often the College in which you declare your major will evaluate the courses that could give you general education credit, however to take higher level course work in math or the sciences you will need to have your courses evaluated that you took in these areas at your previous institution. Once you have been accepted, you can submit your courses for evaluation. Below are links to the evaluation process for each department:
Be sure to point out any problems or discrepancies you may see in your transferred work. Also be sure to explore with your advisor the various majors offered at USF as we may have a different selection than your previous institution. Please see any advisor every semester, as they can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. Seeing an advisor is particularly important as you must be especially careful with the sequencing of your science courses at USF as many of our courses have prerequisites that may differ from those of your previous institution.
Do jump right into student organizations, volunteer work, shadowing, and research opportunities. You may be ready to initiate applications to professional schools or graduate programs in as little as one year. Be sure to check our website often for information on application workshops, open houses at various schools, and other information of special interest to juniors and seniors.
