In the Fall of 2003 Polish and Swahili will be offered
as well. This semester, 528 students are enrolled in our LCTL
course sections. The class of these sections varies from small
independent study groups to larger sections with up to twenty-five
students.
Students often take LCTLanguage classes because they are
interested in a particular area of the world and plan to aim their
studies in this direction. They also take LCTL classes because
knowledge of an LCTL will give them the opportunity to expand their
academic studies. Many students also have a personal interest in one
of the countries where the language is spoken: they often have
friends, family, or ancestors who are or were speakers of a
particular language.
Regardless of the reason for which a student has decided
to study the language, the LCTL faculty endeavor to create the best
language-learning opportunities. |
