Sonia Ramirez Wohlmuth, Assistant Director for the School of Library and Information Science, has a shared appointment with the World Languages Department. In addition to administrative responsibilities with SLIS, including a variety of student services such as admissions counseling and graduation checks, Ms. Wohlmuth teaches upper division undergraduate classes in Spanish. She has also developed an undergraduate course, Spanish for Library and Information Science Professionals, which can be taken by candidates for the M.A. program in Library and Information Science as well as non-degree seeking students and others seeking continuing education opportunities The interdisciplinary nature of Ms. Wohlmuth's appointment reflects her academic preparation (B.A. in Spanish and French, University of Georgia; M.A. in Spanish Linguistics, University of Illinois; M.A. in Library and Information Science, University of South Florida; and candidate for the Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics, University of Illinois). She is actively interested in the promotion of library services to Spanish speaking populations in the U.S. and in the dissemination of information technology in Latin America. |
