Senior Research Paper Guidelines
- Paper will be done as "independent research" and student will sign up for course in the
department of the Committee Chair.
- Credit for the paper will be a minimum of 3 hours, but could be 4 hours maximum.
Paper should be completed in one semester.
- Permit for course will be secured before registration. This supposes that the student
will have formulated a definite proposal, which has been approved by the student's director.
Approval of the 2 other members should be done early in the writing process because all
three will ultimately need to approve.
- This proposal should be on a topic for which the student has both background and interest.
- The proposal should identify the topic, how it will be addressed, and include
bibliographic references related to the topic.
- The paper will be graded S/U, with the possibility of designating outstanding papers
as "With Honors".
- Length should be appropriate to the topic, but ordinarily no shorter than 15 pages and
no longer than 30 pages, including graphics and bibliography.
- Student should use a bibliographical format acceptable to the faculty committee chair.
