Lecture to discuss pop culture's impact on literacy

USF’s English department is hosting Bronwyn Williams, writer and professor of English at University of Louisville, at 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 4, in the Marshall Student Center room 2707.

Williams will share his investigation into popular culture and pedagogy and his work “Shimmering Literacies: Popular Culture and Reading and Writing Online,” an observation of how students engage in online literacy.

Discussions will be heard concerning his conclusions of how popular culture shapes students’ learning and their conceptions of audience, authorship, text, identity and literary practice.

His teaching entails areas such as writing pedagogy and theory, literacy and culture, creative nonfiction, and others. To learn more about Williams, visit his website.
