USF colloquium series addresses BP oil disaster[03.31.2011]
TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of South Florida’s Department of Sociology colloquium series will be hosting “The BP Oil Disaster in the Gulf: Lessons from Pandora’s Well.”
The colloquium will be hosted by Anthony Ladd from Loyola University New Orleans on Thursday, March 31 at 10 a.m. in the Grace Allen Room in the library. Ladd is a professor of sociology and a former chair of the Department of Sociology and the environmental studies program at Loyola University in New Orleans.
His research focuses on the impacts of environmental controversies and disasters in communities.
Recently, Ladd has published research on the psychological impacts of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans as well as the college students of Mississippi State University.
Ladd also is involved with the related impacts surrounding the 2010 BP Oil Disaster.
The 30-minute presentation will be followed by a discussion session.
