Archaeologist to discuss discovery of ancient battlegrounds[01.19.2012]
Tampa, Fla. -- The University of South Florida Department of History and The Ancient Studies Center are sponsoring a lecture about the Punic War in Sicily. Jeff Royal, Ph.D., archaeological director for RPM Nautical Foundation, will begin his presentation at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in the Marshall Student Center Oval Theater. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
The lecture will be based on the findings of the First Punic War in 241 BCE. Royal will be discussing the recently discovered battle zone where the Romans fought the Carthaginians for control of Sicily during the war.
