Last Lecture Series to feature CAS professor

TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of South Florida Housing and Residential Education will host the 2012 Last Lecture Series featuring Christian Wells, Ph.D., at 7 p.m. on April 5, 2012, in the Marshall Center Oval Theatre. Wells will discuss “My Career in Ruins: Confessions of an Archaeologist.”

Wells will share his adventures of being a Mayan archaeologist, and will provide helpful advice on how to handle a range of natural and social disasters including: volcanic eruption, hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires and military coup d’états. The lecture is aimed to show USF students how to become global citizens by traveling abroad.

USF started its Last Lecture tradition in 2010. The Last Lecture premise first gained worldwide popularity in 2007 when a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Randy Pausch, gave his last lecture, which was turned into a best-selling book. The idea behind the Last Lecture is to evoke an inspirational message to an audience as if it may be the presenter’s last.
