School of Mass Communications and Nielsen to host Industry Connections

TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of South Florida and The Nielsen Company will host the Industry Connections event on Sept. 13, 2012, from 1-4 p.m. at the Marshall Student Center. The event will showcase bright talent and networking opportunities through a discussion of business-related topics with the help of the USF student groups from the College of Business, College of Engineering and School of Mass Communications student groups.

Industry Connections will have four concurrent breakout sessions that will run 15 minutes each. The sessions will focus its topics on business, engineering, mass communications and social media. Each topic will provide insight about executive roles, importance of the company and business sector, as well as possible career opportunities available for students.

Fred Pearce, director of the School of Mass Communications, will introduce Bob McCann, who is a senior leader at Nielsen ‘s largest facility in the world, the Global Technology and Information Center (GTIC) in Tampa, Fla. The keynote will encourage students to network with several business leaders in the Tampa Bay area for career related advice.

Industry Connections also will provide a various amount of speakers at the event from local corporations including: Nielsen, TBO.com, Publix Supermarkets, Poynter Institute for Media Studies, Catalina, Jabil and Tampa Bay Technology Forum.
