CAS faculty and alumni to speak at TedxUSF
TAMPA, Fla. -- TedxUSF, an independently organized TED event, will be coming to the University of South Florida on Friday, Feb. 22. The event, titled “On the Edge of the Future,” will showcase various guest speakers who will have the opportunity to present their ideas to the local community.
Four speakers who are affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences will be presenting their ideas at the event: Randy Borum, Ph.D., Patrizia LaTreechia, Ph.D., Raven Villegas and Jordan Zimmerman.
Borum is a professor and Coordinator for Strategy and Information Analysis in the School of Information, as well senior editor for the Journal of Strategic Security. Borum previously served on the DNI’s Intelligence Science Board. His work has previously focused on behavioral dynamics in violent extremism, counterintelligence and intelligence interviewing.
LaTreechia serves as an associate professor in the Department of World Languages and is the director of the Italian program. LaTreechia conducts research on various subjects such as film, media and the culture of food. She previously served on the board of the Humanities Institute at USF, and is now part of an advisory board for the Gasparilla International Film Festival. LaTreechia also has been accepted as a researcher for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome.
Villegas is an alumna of USF who received her degree in political science and international studies.
