Online MPA Degree to launch in August
[05.07.2013]

TAMPA, Fla. -- For people who are experienced in the public service or nonprofit worlds and want to advance in their careers, the University of South Florida is launching an Online Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. Classes start this August. The deadline for applications is July 15.

The Master of Public Administration program, in USF’s new School of Public Affairs, is designed to broaden established educational backgrounds and prepare graduates for increased responsibility in management and leadership positions.

“The online Master of Public Administration provides individuals the opportunity to learn in a stimulating technologically advanced environment while allowing greater learning flexibility for students both domestically and internationally,” said John Daly, director of the USF School of Public Affairs, launched in January 2013. “Students will collaborate and learn with like-minded professionals leading and managing in the nonprofit and public sector.”

The 36-credit program is offered 100 percent online. This format allows professionals from urban and rural communities alike to advance their leadership goals with an advanced degree. Online courses focus on organizational and human resource management, public policy, information management, and budgeting and financial administration.

The online courses are offered using the CANVAS Learning Management System. This platform allows students to access the online classroom from anywhere at any time through the internet.

The USF School of Public Affairs, in the College of Arts and Sciences, also offers a master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning (MURP) as well as three graduate certificates in public management, nonprofit management and research administration.
