CAS professor publishes series on water pollution[07.16.2013]
TAMPA, Fla. -- A University of South Florida biology professor recently published a series of papers on the subject of fecal indicator bacteria (FIB), detecting sources of fecal pollution, and the response of contaminating bacteria to natural forces such as other microorganisms and sunlight that would clean the contaminating bacteria from the environment.
Valerie Harwood, Ph.D., co-authored the papers with the help of her graduate students both former and current. Harwood works in the Department of Integrative Biology and specializes in the study of fecal bacterial contamination of fresh and marine waters.
