USF Botanical Gardens to offer Eco Printing Workshop [10.23.2013]
TAMPA, Fla. -- During Nov. 2-3, the University of South Florida Botanical Gardens is having a special “Eco Printing Workshop.” The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Gardens Conservatory.
This workshop, presented by Jim Dennison, focuses on learning to print on paper with leaves, bark and other plants by cooking the plant materials inside paper bundles. Printing on fabric and some dyeing with natural plant extracts also will be demonstrated. This method of printing is a great way to learn to make unique mono prints that can be used as prints, cards, end papers and books.
The class is limited to 10 people and pre-registration is required. All materials are provided. The class costs $30. To see more on this type of printing, see Jim Dennison’s Blog at http://www.dipandstain.blogspot.com
