Associate professor at USF to attend NASA/NSF workshop
TAMPA, Fla. -- Associate professor Lynn (Marty) Martin from the Department of Integrative Biology has been invited to participate in a National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA)/National Science Foundation (NSF)workshop on acute and chronic stress Dec. 5-6 in Arlington, Va.
The workshop, “Stress in the Healthy Organism,” is the first joint workshop of its kind to address stress and stressors in healthy animals and humans. It
will examine sources of stress from the cellular level to the level of ecosystems. Twenty leading scientists will gather in order to define what is
considered the state of health, and what the acute and chronic stress responses are.
The workshop will guide future research in the field of preventing and treating stress, will foster future collaboration among attendees, will begin to
develop integrated studies on stress and will remove bottlenecks in this field of research.
