CAS senior featured on "Live! With Regis and Kelly"

TAMPA, Fla. -- University of South Florida senior Neil Seaver is flipping out.

That’s because the biomedical sciences major recently received national attention – and $2,500 – for his wacky talent. Seaver was featured as a finalist in the Wacky and Wild Talent Contest on the "Live! With Regis and Kelly show."

He was one of 20 finalists vying for $20,000 and a lifetime supply of Trident gum. Among his competitors was a hula-hooper, a juggler, a pogo-stick jumper and a golfing toddler.

As for Seaver? He flips over cars.

“People seem to like it a lot. I have been doing it for so long that I’m used to it, but people who have never seen it are usually surprised,” Seaver said. “Everyone seems to like the car flips the most.”

Seaver is a self-taught tumbler. Over a period of five years, he attended various open house nights at gymnastics gymnasiums to perfect his skills. He eventually took his talent to the streets, flipping over trash cans, picnic tables and car hoods. Today he effortlessly flies over car roofs.

On Monday, the winner of the contest was announced. A teenager from Illinois who can balance heavy objects – ladders, glass tables, bicycles – on his chin, took home the grand prize.

Even though he didn’t take the top spot, Seaver’s YouTube videos continue to receive thousands of views. As for that $2,500 preliminary prize, Seaver said it’s going straight to the bank.

Seaver is no stranger to the spotlight. In 2007, he showed off his tumbling talents as a guest on the David Letterman show. He is currently negotiating an appearance on another national talk show.
