USF FIOG program nominated for HEART Award[03.26.2014]
TAMPA, Fla. – The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government at the University of South Florida was named a finalist for a HEART Award for its Community Real Estate Development (CRED) program. The HEART Awards are a part of the Housing and Education Alliance, a HUD certified hosing counseling agency in the Tampa Bay Area.
Sponsored by FIOG, CRED is a three-module program designed to give participants the tools to carry out successful, affordable housing and community development initiatives. It supports the work of non-profit, community-based and public agencies involved in or responsible for the delivery of community and economic development related services.
“This program was a wonderful tool to understanding the world of Community Real Estate Development, especially how it relates to creating affordable housing in the Tampa Bay Region,” said Michelle Boone, an urban planner for Tampa. “It connected me to resources in the community that will benefit future development efforts within the City.”
On April 17, the HEART Awards will take place in the Grand Hyatt in Tampa at 6 p.m. HEART stands for Housing, Education, Alliance, Residential, Triumph.
