CAS professor to discuss animal rights
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay community will learn about the relationship between law, politics and animal rights at Steven Tauber’s “Road Scholars” lecture on Feb. 11, 2015. The lecture is being held at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library on Bearss Avenue.
Tauber is the chair of the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of South Florida. In his lecture, he will examine the differences between animal welfare and animal rights. Tauber also will analyze two recent legal campaigns that have attempted to establish legal rights for animals.
The lecture will emphasize the importance of media coverage in these legal campaigns and how it has affected the public debate on animal rights.

The USF College of Arts and Sciences’ Road Scholars program launched in 2014. This program sends accomplished faculty on the road throughout the Tampa Bay area, eventually making their way around the state and the country. Through the Road Scholars program, USF faculty will share the results of their invaluable research and experiences with the local and national community.
