USF alumna appointed to White House team

Tampa, Fla. -- A University of South Florida College of Arts and Sciences alumna is currently serving on the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team (SBST). Lori Foster, Ph.D., who graduated from USF in 1999 with a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology, began serving on this new team in 2014.

The SBST is a multi-disciplinary group of experts that is helping federal agencies streamline access to their programs and improve how they communicate with constituents. Behavioral science insights are research findings from fields such as behavioral economics and psychology about how people make decisions and act on them. The SBST is committed to using what research and these behavioral science insights tell us about how people make decisions to better serve Americans and improve government efficiency.

Foster is currently a professor of psychology at North Carolina State University. Her areas of research and expertise include humanitarian work, psychology and organizational survey design and analysis. She also has a particular interest in using industrial organizational psychology research and theories to shine light on national and international challenges pertaining to unemployment, underemployment and the development and utilization of skills.

Furthermore, she is a science-practitioner with more than 12 years of experience as a consultant, applying the science of work to regional, state, national and international organizations.
