Dean's Office seeking marketing and events interns

The College of Arts and Sciences Office of the Dean is looking for outstanding interns for the spring semester. Interns volunteer for at least 10 hours per week in Cooper Hall. Applications are due Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. The following positions are available:

Broadcast/Production Intern

Two broadcast/production interns will film, edit and produce news packages for our YouTube channel in addition to shooting promotional spots about opportunities for students. These interns will help create commercials to promote our special events. Interns have access to a DSLR, lights, tripod and wireless microphones and will edit their work on an iMac using Adobe Premier Pro.

Communications and Marketing Intern

Two communications and marketing interns will become experts at writing press releases, brochure copy and headlines. They will become proficient in AP Style. These interns will work on internal communication pieces and will assist with marketing the college’s many events. In addition, communications and marketing interns will develop engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Event Planning Intern

Three event planning interns are needed to assist with more than 50 events during the spring semester. Interns will learn how to plan a successful event from start to finish. They will learn about budgeting, contract negotiation, logistics, security and liability management, event execution, and event marketing.

Graphic Design Intern

Two graphic designers are needed to assist with designing collateral for many of the College of Arts and Sciences’ events and special projects. Items include brochures, banners, social media graphics, fliers, posters, infographics, electronic newsletters and digital publications. These interns will learn how to implement a brand through visual design and written copy.

Web Development Intern

Two web development interns will focus on creating a new navigational structure for the College of Arts and Sciences’ website. In addition, they will create page content. These interns will work with the college’s webmaster and will learn Google analytics and how to conduct a focus group. These interns will develop essential skills such as creating wireframes, writing for the web, designing graphics and basic HTML.
