USF Botanical Gardens to host its 24th annual Fall Plant Festival

TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of South Florida Botanical Gardens will celebrate its 24th annual Fall Plant Festival Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 12 from 10 am. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for the general public and free for children under twelve and USF Botanical Garden members. Parking is free.

The Fall Plant Festival will have more than fifty vendors selling a variety of plants such as crotons, African violets, orchids, bromeliads, begonias, succulents, fruit trees, bamboo, bougainvillea, native plants, palms and more. Most vendors are part of local plant clubs and societies, and commercial growers will be present.

Along with the plant sale, the festival also will be having its annual scarecrow display throughout the gardens. A children’s activities area will be set up and a vegetable gardening workshop will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.

The USF Botanical Gardens is a non-profit, member- sponsored, educational facility. The garden is open to the public seven days a week (except major holidays). The USF Botanical Gardens is located on the southwest corner of the Tampa campus, at Pine and Alumni Drives, off of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, just one block north of East Fowler Avenue.

The mission of the USF Botanical Gardens is to foster appreciation, understanding and stewardship of our natural and cultural botanical heritage through living plant collections, displays, education and research.
