Description:
This course is a basic introduction to twentieth century continental social
theory. The readings are selected in part to introduce key texts, in part to
cover the texts on the Continental Philosophy Exam reading list relating to
Social Theory. The class will be a seminar, and each participant will have
three major responsibilities: to read the texts and participate in discussions,
to present a one week section of the readings, and to submit a paper on a topic
relevant to the readings. These three elements will determine the grade, with
the first two counting for and 1/4 each, and the paper 1/2 of the total grade.
