research outline:

Dr. Hari Srikanth directs the Functional Materials Laboratory at USF which is a research facility equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for chemical synthesis of nanoparticles and and studying the electrical and magnetic properties of novel materials. Investigations of the material properties are done over a wide range in temperature (2K < T < 350K) and applied magnetic fields upto 7 Tesla using a Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS). In addition, the frequency-dependent electromagnetic response is probed from DC to 6 GHz. A novel resonant radio-frequency (RF) method has been developed to accurately determine the magnetic anisotropy and switching effects in materials. Current research projects focus on studies of dynamic magnetic response and high frequency impedance in nanoparticles, polymer composites, magnetodielectric materials, highly spin polarized oxides, magnetocaloric effect and biomedical applications of magnetic films and nanoparticles.

Research activities are funded through grants from National Science Foundation, DARPA and Army Research Office.
