research outline:

My research is currently focused on studying magnetic and optical properties of nanostructures, such as quantum dots and optical microcavities. My efforts have been devoted to describing and developing models for the different mechanisms responsible for the loss of coherence of an electron spin in a quantum dot. In addition, I have been studying nonlinear optical amplification from optical microcavities. These problems are of current interest in applications in spintronics, quantum computation, nonlinear optical emission devices.

Recently, my research is also related to carbon nanotubes and their adsorption properties to different materials, where I use electronic structure calculations and analytical methods. Carbon nanotubes have been studied intensively in relation to their applications in novel nanoscale materials and devices, as well as for their fundamental properties. The adsorbates formed on the carbon nanotubes are of high importance to material storage and detection.
