DESCRIPTION:

We will examine the period of emerging British Modernism in the years between 1902 and 1916, with special emphasis on style, form, and technique, particularly as they represent various inheritances and departures from nineteenth-century aestheticism. We will also focus on those qualities of British Modernism that suggest concerns distinct from American counterparts.
